Rocky Mountain National Park

We took a drive through the Rocky Mountain National Park on Monday. Lots of pretty country. We head to the west side of the Rockies tomorrow for a week or so at Montrose, CO. We want to do some real 4 wheeling with the Jeep and we hear there are some good trails over there. Life is good!

Dirt path

We decided to take the path less traveled in the Rocky Mountain National Park. There is this road that only goes one way - east to west - up to the top of Trail Ridge at 11,796'...Just a dirt road, no guard rails and lots of hairpin turns. We had fun in the Jeep!! :-) Not 4 wheeling, but the first time we had someplace to take the Jeep out this summer and have fun!

Hayden Gorge

Sandy and Cody pose in front of a glacial valley at Hayden Gorge. The landscape here was created by glaciers thousands of years ago.

Continental Divide

Here is Ed and Cody at Milner Pass...Continental Divide...10,540 feet. We were at Trail Ridge just before this at 11,796 feet. We both got a headache from the altitude on this trip.

Iowa

We spent a couple of weeks at Coralville Lake north of Iowa City, visiting Lisa and the grandkids. Here they are...Zack, Taylor and McKenzie. Lisa and her friend Dennis are in the bottom picture. They came out to our campsite and we BBQ'd..had a fire and made s'mores. Yum. The last night we were there a storm came in and we had to run for the MH. Mid-west weather, yuck!!
