Helping the chase crew

Susie and Tommie Sue decided they wanted to help the chase crew land a balloon. Anyone can help, since sometimes they need all the help they can get to land one of these big boys! They had fun getting up close and personal.

Video from this morning of hot air balloons

Here is another video taken this morning. We had balloons going up all over the place. The "box affect" was in place this morning. The balloons would go up and the wind would take them south...then the balloon would change alltitude and the wind would carry it back north. Many of the balloons kept moving in the box. They say that this is the only place in the world where this happens. Balloonist come from all over the world to fly here. Today was a great day for flying. Enjoy this short video. http://picasaweb.google.com/KrutysBliss/BalloonFiesta7/photo#5120484173838834466

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta 2007

Well, we are once again at the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, NM. This year we are assistant hosts for the Escapees HOP. We came in yesterday morning and will be here through Sunday. The balloons in this picture are taking part in competitions. This morning they are trying to drop a weighted marker on a specific target within the field. The drops are from different heights....some from just inches from the ground and some from quite a distance up in the air. They were flying right above the motorhome this morning...I just hope the wind is favorable all this week and it keeps them flying this way and not the opposite direction. Life is good!

The BLUE HOLE

We are in Santa Rosa, NM (Historic Route 66). Today we visited their claim to fame, the Blue Hole, a natural, bell-shaped pool, 80 feet deep with a diameter of 80 feet at the surface and 130 feet at the bottom. They say the water comes from an artisan well. The rate of water flow is 3,000 gallons per minute. People travel from all over to scuba dive in the middle of the desert. Life is good!

Tucumcari, NM

We have been taking our time traveling to the Balloon Fiesta. We stopped in a small town on Historic Route 66, Tucumcari, NM, for a few days this week. Their claim to fame is the Community College's dinosaur museum. We had to visit it and I forgot my camera, so checked out their web site. http://www.mesalands.edu/museum/museum.htm Very good for a small town!

Town of Hooker

When we left Dodge City, we traveled south...headed for New Mexico. As we were traveling on US Hwy 56 we passed through a very small town by the name of Hooker. For those of you who know me, I had to take this picture. The grain elevator took up the largest part of this town.
