Du Quoin, IL - Fall Escapade

Well here we are at the Fall Escapade. We arrived here in Du Quoin, IL this afternoon and are very happy with our "home" for the next 10 days. We have a great view and lots of elbow room. We volunteered to be sound assistants. We found out that 3 other volunteers are DOVE's and are helping out the Red Cross with Katrina work and won't be here so we will be quite busy the next 10 days. We will have fun in the process with many of our friends who are also here. Life is good, Hugs, Ed and Sandy Posted by Picasa

Rockville, IN

Hi. We decided to drop in on the SKP Ch 51 rally here in Rockville, IN before heading on to the Fall Escapade. There are over 30 campers here and everyone is having a great time. This is a wonderful area to visit, just wish we had more time. There are 32 Covered Bridges in Parke county...more than any other county in the world. Since they are located all over the county it would take a few days to see them all, but I was able to see 7 of them today. I would have seen 8, but an arsonist burned the Bridgeton Bridge this past year. I wish I had been able to see that one since it sits right next to the Bridgeton Mill. This is a beautiful area with lots to see...Life is Good. Hugs, Sandy & Ed

The Catlin Bridge, 54 feet, was built in 1907. The only use it gets now is by golf carts since it is located at the Parke County Gold Course. Ed took advantage of being next to a golf course today and had a little fun. We can see this bridge from out motorhome. We are staying at the Parke County Fairground at a SKP Ch 51 rally. Hanging out with the kids

We just got back to Dayton today from our trip to Atlanta, GA to visit with Ed's two sons and 3 grandkids. We had a great time. On Saturday we took everyone to Stone Mountain for the day. We all had a great time. Those grandkids are really cute. We decided to come back to Dayton so we could spend a few days more with Ed's daughter Michelle before heading to DuQuoin, IL for the Escapees Fall Escapade. We spent Labor Day weekend with her and her friends, going out to dinner, watching football, going to a craft show(I think that was for me, LOL) and just hanging out.

This is Stone Mountain. It rises 835 feet and is the largest exposed piece of granite on earth. Really awesome to see. Notice the Summit Skyride tower on the top left, that is how we got to the top for one of the photos to follow. Great views of Atlanta...too bad it was smoggy the day we were there, I wanted to get better photos of the sky-line. Maybe next time! Posted by Picasa

The world's largest high relief carving depicting Pres Jefferson Davis, Gen Robert E Lee and Lt Gen Thomas "Stonewall" Jackgon. This carving is more massive than Mt Rushmore, began in 1917 and took 55 yrs to complete. Posted by Picasa

Here we are with the kids and grandkids on top of Stone Mountain in Atlanta, GA. That is the downtown sky-line of Atlanta, GA in the background. Ashleigh and Brandon are in front and Ed, Sandy, John, Keiliani and Brad are in the back. Posted by Picasa

We're in Dayton, OH at Wright Paterson AFB

We spent a week in Van Wert visiting Richard, Karen and family. We had trees in the way and couldn't get on the internet while we were there. We had a great time even though the visit was short. We have moved on to Dayton, OH to visit with Michelle for a few days. Next week it's on to Atlanta, GA to visit with Brad, John and the grandkids. Hugs, Sandy & Ed
